Indian Naan 印度麵包 ($3 for Four)

Naan is so good – especially when paired with Curry. It often requires ghee (a sort of Indian butter). My recipe eliminates the ghee and uses more common (at least where I am) ingredients instead. While it may not be the most authentic naan, it is still quite scrumptious.
- 3/4 tsps dry yeast ($1)
- 1/2 cup of warm water ($0.1)
- 3/4 tsps sugar ($ 0.1)
- 1 1/2 cups of flour ($0.6)
- 1/2 tsp salt ($0.1)
- 3 tbsps melted butter ($ 0.6)
- 1 1/2 tbsp yogurt ($0.6)
Total $3 for Four
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Keep the dough in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Flatten the dough on a non-stick cookie sheet.
- Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes, or until the bottom of the dough turns brown.
For an interesting twist, you can try flavored yogurt – peaches and curry go better than you think.
印度麵包
印度麵包配任何咖哩都好吃的不得了. 不過多數食譜要印度奶油. 我的食譜不用. 這樣容易取材多了.
- 3/4匙酵母
- 1/2杯溫水
- 3/4匙糖
- 1 1/2杯麵粉
- 1/2匙鹽
- 3大匙融化奶油
- 1 1/2大匙無糖優格
- 將所有食材用手拌勻
- 將麵團放至溫暖處30分
- 將麵團鋪平在不沾烤盤
- 放進200度烤箱烤約15分, 或直到底部成咖啡色
* 1 杯麵粉= 125g; 1杯牛奶/奶水=245g; 1匙香草精=13g; 1大匙糖=4.2; 1匙鹽 =18g;
1匙泡打粉/蘇打粉=1.5g; 1杯油/奶油= 218g; 1匙酵母=10g

Although, Kansas City is more famous for BBQ, this East Coast BBQ can easily beat Arthur Bryant’s. Link
The price was quite reasonable and the food is definitely worth the money.
I strongly recommend their Ribs. They are tender, juicy and succulent.
They have a wide variety of BBQ sauces to choose from.
I tried their award wining, Dixie kiss and Beelzeber sauces.
Both of them are extremely absolutely scrumptious and unique.

Blueberry Jam 藍莓果醬

There are not blueberries Taiwan. At least I have never seem them in the market. Therefore, I really want to bring some to my family but fresh fruit is prohibited in international travel. So I made some homemade Jam to bring home with me.
Ingredients: 3 cups of blueberries, 4.5 cups of sugar, 1 bag of Gelatin powder, the juice of 1 lemon (about 3 tbsp)
1. Wash & drain all blueberries. Crush them with a potato masher.
2. Cook the blueberry, lemon juice, sugar and Gelatin in a pot until boiling. Reduce until thickened (20 minutes or so).
3. Bake the jar(s) at 400°F and boil the lid(s) in a small pot.
4. Pour the jam in the jar(s) the jar and tighten the lid. Use good pot-holders or you will be very unhappy.
You just made your first jar(s) of blueberry jam.
You can make different jams with the same process by using different fruit. If the fruit is very juicy, drain the juice.
我一直很想帶藍莓回台灣給家人嚐嚐. 但海關規定不能帶新鮮水果. 所以我就自己做了一些藍莓果醬. 雖然不一樣. 但意思有到.再加上因是自製. 所以我放超多原來果粒. 所以果醬中有超多真正的一顆一顆的藍莓
食材: 3杯藍莓(可用果汁機打). 4.5杯糖. 1包洋菜粉. 1顆檸檬汁 (約3大匙)
1. 將藍莓洗淨. 壓碎
2. 一大鍋加入藍莓. 糖. 洋菜粉. 檸檬汁一起煮到滾
3. 將果醬瓶子放進高溫烤箱烤約10分鐘. 瓶蓋放進熱水煮一下
4. 將果醬到進瓶子中. 蓋上蓋子.
恭喜. 你做了兩大罐果醬
一樣的做法. 可以用不同的水果替代. 如水果是多汁的那種. 把汁要喝掉就可以了.
Good Wife Scallion Pancake 好老婆蔥油餅 ($5.3 for Four)

I am going back to Taiwan tomorrow.
Since I am ditching my husband and leaving him all by himself, I tried to make his life as easy as possible when I am gone. (He is a very good cook, he just gets lazy by himself)
I made a huge batch of scallion pancake dough and froze it. All he needs to do when he wants to eat a pancake is let it thaw, press it flat and pan fry it.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of chopped fresh scallion ($ 2)
- 5 tbsp oil ($1)
- 2tbsp of sesame oil ($1)
- 3 cups of flour ($1)
- 1 1/2 cups of hot water (water amount may be varied. Overall, the dough should not stick to your hand) ($0.2)
- salt ($0.1)
Total $ 5.3 for Four
1. Mix flour and hot water together. (Use a spatula at first, then hand mix).
2. Place the dough in a warm area for at least 30 mins.
3. Separate the dough into four pieces and use a rolling pin to flatten. (more flour can be added if the dough is sticky)
4. Brush a little oil and sesame oil on the dough and sprinkle scallions and salt evenly.
5. Roll the dough until long. Wrap this long piece of dough into a spiral.
6. Flatten the spiral with your hands and pan fry it in over low heat. Flip when browned.
Eat while hot!
明天我要坐飛機回台灣一個月摟. :yeh2:
因為覺得對不起雷老公. 把他一人丟下一個多月. 沒辦法阿. 誰叫我們正在找工作. 我倆都走了.暑期過後誰養家阿. 說到養家.當然他要跑第一. 犧牲一點摟. 所以我可以會台灣. 他不行.
所以我做了好老婆蔥油餅. 冰了一大堆在冰庫. 他懶得做飯就拿一個出來解凍. 壓平後. 平底鍋一煎就可以吃了. 有時還可以包肉鬆. 或小黃瓜
那至於我呢? 那就可想而知. 一定是每天在台灣吃大餐啦.! 不過聽說我會熱死耶. :worried:
食材: 2杯蔥花. 2 1/2 杯麵粉. 1 1/2 杯熱水. 一些鹽. 5大匙油.3大匙麻油
1. 麵粉.熱水攪拌均勻.手敢碰後.用手搓揉
2. 放在溫暖處30分鐘
3. 將麵粉分於幾份. 用桿麵棍桿於大平片(如果麵糊黏黏的.可以再加些麵粉)
4. 灑上蔥花.鹽. 刷上油及麻油
5. 從右到左捲起來.變一長條.再從左到右在捲起.變螺旋狀.
6. 壓扁.平底鍋小火煎到兩面都金黃
趁熱吃…超香
26歲新希望
今天我滿26歲了.
好恐怖ㄜ
正式從20出. 變20尾.
真的感覺很不一樣.
覺得真的是長大了. 不能在裝傻了.
我記得我20要21時. 覺得…ㄟ…好像沒我想像的恐怖. 覺得自己還很年輕嘛.
24要25時. 本來以為會很恐怖. 結果也還好.
今年好像真的比較恐怖了說.
來說說我26歲生日希望好了. 真的很希望都能實現.
如果許太多望. 會不會太貪心阿?
1. 我家雷老公能找到穩定的工作 (或對我們未來找工作有幫助的工作). 不管是那一個, 這樣都會幫助我們.比較不會不知何去何從. 多多少少在經濟上也會有點幫助.
2. 我考試考過. 論文寫完. 把書唸完. 不然一直拖也不好.
3. 今明後年. 養一知小狗狗. (我跟雷老公決定. 在我們有小孩之前. 我們要試著先養一隻小狗. 如果狗狗活過來了. 而且沒把我們吃了. 那我們再考慮有小孩…呵呵)
4. 希望我們家裡每個人都身體健康. (你們可能會想我怎麼把這個願望放在前三個之後. 那是因為阿. 我知道上帝已經保守帶領了. 這個是我不用去努力的. 但前三個是我们要自己去做去達成)
其實本來以為我會有多希望. 沒想到其實不多耶.
接下來這一年. 就這些希望了. :celebrate:
上帝說的嘛! “一天的難處一天當” 我就一年的希望. 一年許好了.
希望我明年寫我生日的新希望時.這些都達成.都實現了.
Photoshop tutorial 簡易修改照片法
People have been asking my how I get my food photos to look good.
Here’s what I usually do. This is a slightly modified version of this tutorial on UnfocusedBrain via Lifehacker – just a simple color match
1. The first step is to make the best of your camera. Take a bunch of pictures and pick the best one later (assuming you are using a digital camera)

2. Find a suitable photo to match with online (I use Google Images and Google Image Ripper. For example, in this case, I searched for “potato salad.” I usually choose a picture with similar colors but better. Here’s the one I chose

3. Open Photoshop. (I’ve noticed older versions don’t have this function) Open both your picture and the one you downloaded. Make sure yours is selected.
4. Go to image –> adjustments–> match color–> Source (at the bottom)–> select the file name of the downloaded picture.
5. Play around with the level of Fade, Color Intensity and Luminance until you like the results. Here are my results:

最近有滿多網友問我.是不是我有很好的照像機.因為我的食物相片滿好看的.
其實我沒有.我只有一個快8年多的數位相機.是我婆不要的.
畫像質非常低.所以所有的相片都還要再經過處理.
我想借機介紹一下我怎麼處理的.這是我在 lifehacker 看到的.
1.盡量將原本的照片照到最好.
2.到Google圖片.找一張類似的照片.如:是義大利麵.我就會搜尋義大利麵的照片.我會挑顏色最鮮艷漂亮的照片.然後下載下來.
3.將自己的相片.跟下載的相片在Photoshop打開(我有注意到.舊版得沒有這一功能)要注意.自己的相片要是被點選的那一個.
4.到Photoshop的.圖片 (image)->調整 (adjustments)->符合色彩 (match color)->來源(視窗下方)(source)->點選你下載的照片.
5.然後依喜好調整上方的功能 (Fade, Color Intensity and Luminance).(註.一般都要調滿多.不然照片顏色會很奇怪)
(*因我沒有中文版的Photoshop. 所以部驟4.是英翻中得來的.如果找不到.試試看讀英文的講解.可能會幫你知到怎麼做)
羅德島一日遊

好幾天沒看到我了吧.
我跑去玩了.
昨天.我跟雷老公跑到羅德島去看有錢人了…呵呵
羅德島的Newport據說是有錢人的聚集地.
多數不是我們一般所為得有錢人. 他們大多是世世代代歷史上的旺族.
我跟雷老公兩個鄉巴佬. 想說來見識見識什麼叫世代旺族.
所以兩人開車到了 羅德島的Newport. 然後租了一輛摩托車.
在島上到處看人家的毫宅.
嘻嘻!! 搞不好有人覺得我們偷窺勒.
其中的一些毫宅已經被捐出來做博物館了.
我们去參觀了其中一個.

我們走進大門. 那豪華得花園修剪的非常整齊完整. 那只是人家的前院.
好不容易走進大廳. 整個大廳的天花板都是純金的雕飾.
到了餐廳. 聽說每一把椅子都是最好的紅木及純絲綢做的. 每把椅子的造價在100年前就已經是5千美金了.
整個宮殿造價在100多年前就快上千萬美金.
在當時. 他們需要20個男女僕來唯持宮殿整體內部的乾淨.及上下一切的打理.
前後院須12位受過良好教育的園丁.
整個宮殿對我來說就像迷宮一樣. 一轉錯彎. 就迷路了.
還要看地圖才出的來說.
說真的. 這有錢人的廁所都比我整個公寓還大還豪華說. :goodness:
聽到這一切的大筆銷費後. 我看簡介上說.
因那家族太有錢. 所以我去參觀的這個毫華宮廷.
只是那家女主人的衣櫥.
這是什麼跟什麼??
我看了都想. 這也太誇張了吧.
有錢也不是這樣花的吧! 媽咪! 有這種事阿.
真的是無言以對.
因此我…決定 :strong: …上帝阿.
如果有一天你讓我那麼有錢. 我 答應你. 我決對不會這麼浪費.
我一定會很珍惜.
ㄏㄏㄏ…自己都知道只是說來開玩笑的啦!
Tuna Salad Sandwich 鮪魚沙拉三明治 ($2.75 for One)

I am not a sandwich lover but this one is the exception. It’s super easy, super excellent, and not too unhealthy.
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of whole wheat bread ($0.3)
- 1 egg ($0.25)
- 1 /3 can of tuna (drained) ($o.4)
- 1/3 cup of chopped celery ($0.3)
- 2 tbsp of chopped red onion ($0.2)
- 3 tbsp of mayonnaise ($0.3)
- 1/3tsp sugar ($0.2)
- some black pepper and salt ($0.1)
- 1 slice of cheese ($o.5)
- a dash of paprika ($0.2)
Total $2.75 for One
1 . Mix onion, mayonnaise, sugar, black pepper, salt, celery, paprika and tuna together.
2. Put cheese on top of bread warm in oven for 10 minutes.
3. Fry the egg and place on bread along with tuna salad.
Bite, chew, swallow, sigh a sigh of pleasure.
我不是很愛吃三明治的人. 不過這種我到是很喜歡
食材: 2片土司麵包. 1顆蛋. 1鮪魚罐頭(水倒掉). 1/3杯切丁芹菜. 2大匙紅洋蔥. 1/3杯美乃滋. 1/3小匙糖. 一些鹽及糊椒. 1片起司
1. 將 鮪魚. 芹菜. 紅洋蔥. 美乃滋. 糖. 一些鹽及糊椒混合好.拌勻
2.起司放在土司上.放進烤箱考一下
3.煎蛋. 然後放在土司上. 再包上 鮪魚沙拉.就好了
享用香脆麵包加上融化的起司和美味的鮪魚沙拉
Whipped Cream & Strawberry Filled Crepes 草莓奶泡Crepes

This is so absolutely delicious and wonderful during the summer.
Every single bit is Heavenly.
They are also easy and totally satisfying. :dance:
Ingredients: (about 12)
Crepes-
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Non-stick spray
1. Mix all ingredients together.
2. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
3. Spray a non-stick pan with non-stick spray. Pour batter in the pan evenly
4. Use a spatula to slightly fold the edges of the batter when slightly cooked.
5. When the bottom cooked, flip the crepe carefully.
(let chill before inserting filling)
Filling- 1 cup of chopped strawberry, 1 cup of whipped cream
1. Mix all ingredients.
2. Place the filling in the middle of the crepe and fold all sides in.
3. Enjoy your absolutely delicious whipped cream & strawberry filled crepes
我從以前就一直比較喜愛國外的Crepe.不像台灣的是脆的.而是軟的
這是我自己亂研究的.做出來超好吃. :dance:
食材:
Crepe-2顆蛋.1杯牛奶.1/2杯麵粉.2大匙融化奶油.2大匙糖.1小匙香草精
1.將所有食材攪拌混合
2.冰冰箱1小時
3.倒入一些麵糊於不沾平底鍋.搖晃鍋子.讓它盡量薄及平.
4.用筷子順著餅皮邊括一下.
5.翻的了面時.小心的翻面.兩面均熟即可 (放涼)
餡料-1杯切碎草莓.1杯奶泡 (加在咖啡上面的那種)
1.將草莓及奶泡攪拌一下
2.盛一匙在餅皮中央.將四周摺入
3.享受這超級好吃.清涼的夏季聖品

上帝也記得我们的結婚紀念日

前天. 7月8號是我和我家雷老公台灣結婚一週年.
我倆都還記得去年我們結婚那一天的傾盆大雨.
大雨大到我們可憐伴郎在來迎娶時摔個狗吃屎.
都是我貪心啦!
我們在去年婚禮的前幾天.看氣象. 一直都說會晴天高照.
但我聽家人說. 結婚當天如果下雨. 就待表我們以後會發財. 因見水則發.
又聽婚紗公司小姐說. 結婚當天如果下雨. 那新娘會很好命.
所以我就開始跟上帝禱告. 跟上帝說:”上帝阿. 上帝阿…你知道我們超需要發一下. 求你在我們結婚當天給我們一點雨吧!”
就這樣. 我们結婚當天. 下雨下到很多車都拋錨在路邊.
開車時. 跟本看不到前方. 我家人說:很久有那麼大的雨了.
那天既沒颱風. 也沒梅雨. 就是奇怪的下雨下個不停. 大到不可思意.
前天. 我和雷老公起床. 今年我們在麻州了.
探出窗外.看到天氣真是舒適阿. 不冷不熱. 大晴天.
我倆就拿起我們去年的婚禮在自娛.
一整天. 天氣都很好.
終於到了傍晚. 我們決定到我们觀查了許久的一個餐廳吃晚餐.
晚餐後. 走出餐廳……哇哇!!!!! ![]()
上帝還是依照我的禱告…大雨!!!!
我住麻州8年. 沒看過那麼大的雨.
剛開始還想等一等好了. 沒想到越等越大.
最後沒辦法. 雷老公跑去開車來餐廳接我.
他車開到我前面. 我跳進車. 那不到3秒鐘. 我已經全身溼透.
就像有人到一筒水在我頭上一樣.
今天. 我們的結婚紀念日. 我人在麻州. 離台灣超遠. 又過了一年.
沒想到上帝還記得我去年求什麼…呵呵
