People have been asking my how I get my food photos to look good.
Here’s what I usually do. This is a slightly modified version of this tutorial on UnfocusedBrain via Lifehacker – just a simple color match
1. The first step is to make the best of your camera. Take a bunch of pictures and pick the best one later (assuming you are using a digital camera)

2. Find a suitable photo to match with online (I use Google Images and Google Image Ripper. For example, in this case, I searched for “potato salad.” I usually choose a picture with similar colors but better. Here’s the one I chose

3. Open Photoshop. (I’ve noticed older versions don’t have this function) Open both your picture and the one you downloaded. Make sure yours is selected.
4. Go to image –> adjustments–> match color–> Source (at the bottom)–> select the file name of the downloaded picture.
5. Play around with the level of Fade, Color Intensity and Luminance until you like the results. Here are my results:

Here are some more examples (this were taken with a very crappy camera in fact).

Very creative way of using this function!~I thought that was only for matching the same batch of pictures that have color shift, contrast or brightness difference problems~thanks for sharing!~^^
Love and hugs from Washington DC!
