Rice Ball

Rice Ball is a tradition food item which you can find in food cart on the street in Taiwan during breakfast hours.
It is a hardy, healthy and delicious choice for breakfast.

  • 1 -1.5 cup of cooked short grain rice
  • 2 tbsp of chopped scallion
  • 2-3 tbsp of shredded pork
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp of dry Daikon (optional; you can find this in Asian super market dry goods area)
  • 1 sliced of sushi seaweed
  • 2 tbsp of Crispy oriental noodle (Use in salad sometimes )
  • some black sesame
  • 1 piece of Plastic wrap (around 6X6)
  1. Fry the egg.
  2. Flatten warm rice on plastic wrap.
  3. Place seaweed first than egg, pork, scallion, noodle finally dry diakon in the center of the rice. Make sure the rice is bigger than all other ingredients.
  4. Both hands hold the plastic wrap. Fold the rice towards center until rice close together. Continue to squeeze and fold the rice until the rice is in a ball shape.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the rice.
  6. Enjoy your rice ball.

Okra Salad

  • 3 cups of Okras
  • 2 cups of Tofu
  • 1 tbsp of chopped Cilantro
  • 2-3 tbsp of soy paste
  • some sriracha chili sauce
  • 2-3 tbsp of katsuobushi (dry fish flakes)
  1. Clean and cut okras in half.
  2. Boil okras in water for 5 minutes.
  3. Rinse okras in cold water.
  4. Cut tofu into bit size.
  5. Place okra and tofu in plate.
  6. Top with cilantro and katsuobushi.
  7. Drizzle soy pasta and sriracha on top.

Naan Sandwich

This is a fun version of my sandwich. Easy, fast, delicious and fun.

  • 1 piece of frozen naan
  • 2 tbsp of hummus
  • 1 tbsp of chopped green scallion
  • some roast beef
  1. Bake naan at 375 degree oven for 5 minutes or until the bread softened.
  2. Spread hummus on naan.
  3. Sprinkle scallion.
  4. Finally place roast beef on top.
  5. Bake the sandwich for additional 10 minutes.

Salsa Rice

A quick easy meal in under 10 minutes.

  • some cooked rice
  • some ground meat (chicken, pork, beef which ever you prefer)
  • some salt & pepper
  • some sliced onion, pepper and mushroom
  • store bought salsa
  • some shredded cheese
  • half avocado
  • some oil
  1. Stir-fry onion in oil until fragrant.
  2. Add meat and salt and pepper.
  3. When meat is cooked, add vegetables. Cook until the vegetables soften.
  4. Put warm rice in a bowl.
  5. Add meat, vegetable stir-fry and avocado.
  6. Sprinkle salsa and cheese on top.
  7. Eat with tortilla chips if desired.

Asian Noodle Salad

Salad ingredients:

  • 1 package of thick egg noodles
  • some fresh ginger
  • some scallions
  • some cilantro
  • some soy bean sprouts or bean sprouts

Sauce ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp os sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp of rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of black vinegar
  • 1 tsp of sriracha sauce
  • olive oil
  • pepper and salt
  1. Boil noodles with some salt and olive oil.
  2. When noodles are cooked, add sprouts. Cook until the water is boiling again.
  3. Drain and rinse noodles and sprouts in cold water.
  4. Finely chop ginger, scallions, cilantro.
  5. Mix all sauce ingredients together with herbs.
  6. Mix sauce and noodles together.
  7. Add salt and pepper as needed.

Baked Rice

  • 2-3 cups of cooked rice (short grain) $0.5
  • 2 links of Kielbasa or hot dog $1
  • 1 cup of broccoli $1
  • 1/2 cup of red pepper $0.5
  • 1/4 cup of red onion $0.5
  • 1/2 cup of chicken stock $0.5
  • 1/2 cup of milk $0.5
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese $1.5
  • salt and pepper $0.1

Serve 2-4 people, total price $ 6

  1. Cut red pepper, onion, Kielbasa and broccoli into bit size.
  2. Mix milk and chicken stock in a sauce pan, cook until boil. Add salt and pepper to season.
  3. In a baking dish, place rice on the bottom and pour milk mixture in.
  4. Layer kielbasa, and vegetables on top.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese turns golden brown.
  7. Allow the rice to sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Chicken Salad Sandwich

  • 1 leftover rotisserie chicken
  • some boiled potatoes
  • some chopped onion and cucumber
  • black pepper, salt
  • 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • some canned corn
  • sliced bread
  1. Pull meat from the leftover rotisseries chicken
  2. Cut potato into bite sized pieces
  3. Mix chicken meat with corn, mayonnaise,  onion, cucumber, potato and add pepper, salt to season
  4. Place chicken salad in fridge for 10 minutes
  5. Serve salad in two slice of bread and enjoy

Seaweed salad

  • 1 bag of seaweed
  • some dry chili
  • some sesame oil
  • some white sesame
  • some chopped cilantro
  • some white vinegar
  1. Wash seaweed in cold water.
  2. Boil a pot of water, cook seaweed for 5 minutes.
  3. Drain seaweed and cut it into bite sized pieces.
  4. Mix dry chili, sesame oil, white sesame, cilantro and white vinegar with seaweed.
  5. Refrigerate until chill.

Seaweed Jelly salad

  • 1 bag of seaweed jelly
  • some thin sliced seedless cucumber
  • some thin sliced carrot
  • some chopped cilantro
  • 1-2 tbsp of mayo
  • some salt
  1. Mix everything together.
  2. Refrigerate until chilled.

Fennel salad

  • 1 Fennel
  • Some red onion slices
  • 1 tbsp of fennel seed
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp of vinegar
  • some salt
  • 2 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil
  1. Slice Fennel into thin slices.
  2. Mix with lemon juice, vinegar. fennel seed, salt and olive oil.
