Taiwaness Crepes 台式Crepe…好好吃
Taiwan’s crepes are crunchy and fragrant. They are very different from traditional crepes, and they come in more than 10 different varieties. Pictured is a custard filled crepe. Last year, my husband and I had a tuna fish and corn crepe. Every single one is a winner and can be enjoyed at most night markets.

My family and I are well experienced Kaohsiung residents. Since we all love food and have lived in the city forever, we know where to get THE most delicious food.
Above is a… I actually don’t know what it is called in English. It is made with rice flour and meat. Don’t look down on these; they are Gooooooood!
If you ever visit Kaohsiung city, ask me where to get them.

我從小吃到大. 我小時後. 最愛去教會了. 因為去完教會. 我們就會過去吃這家.
後來我們搬家換教會了. 我還是會特別跑去吃.
不過就是. 吃了一輩子. 還不知道裡面的肉是啥肉內. 因為他們的肉實在太鮮美好吃. 好吃到無法比預…所以…阿. 不說了. 不知道就好. 呵呵!
This is a Taiwan style meat ball. Usually they are steamed or fried. This is boiled in meat sauce. Very worth a try.

This is green bean noodle soup. Doesn’t sounds too appealing right? Don’t judge it by its name – Give it a try, you will like it.

不過漲價了. 到30元一碗了.
我有那麼老嗎? 從10元一碗. 竟然吃到30元了. 天阿!
Pastry store in Taiwan 台灣麵包新吃法
These are some pastries from Taiwan’s. These particular ones are Longan brown sugar cupcakes – very delicious. Longan itself can bring out a natural sweetness. Therefore, only a bit of brown sugar is added to the cake.
龍眼杯子蛋糕. 只有龍眼自然的甜味. 及香味. 加上一點紅糖. 滿好吃的歐.
This is octopus ink bread. I really don’t like the idea of it, but I had a bit when it was warm. It tastes more like normal bread. But when it is chilled, it does not smell too pleasant. I wouldn’t recommend much more than a sample of it.

溫的時候吃還好. 像一般麵包. 涼了. 就…(不說了)
我不會再吃一次. 不過試試就好.
Dried Chinese roasted pork bread. I say give it a try. You will like it.
It is salty and sweet at the same time – quite unlike usual Western bread.

I went to visit Ikea in Kaohsiung last week because I was curious if there were any differences between it and the ones in the US.
Most of the products are the same but the restaurants offer different foods.
In Taiwan, they offer steaks and curry but no lingonberry juice 
The most surprising thing to me was the meal cart. I can’t believe they have a shopping cart for plates.
It is such a great idea.

Children are Us Restaurant 喜憨兒餐廳
This is my aunt’s seafood stew – NT$200, around US$6.5. 我姑的海鮮奶油飯. $200元
Children are Us is a non-profit organization established in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan in 1995.
They provide job training and long term care to those who suffering from Down’s Syndrome, cerebral palsy, multiple dysfunction and other mental illness.
The organization has several bakery shops and restaurants in Taiwan.
The price of their products is often higher than some bakeries and restaurants. However, everything is extremely delicious. In addition, this is a great way to support the organization and the children who are involved in the training.
This is an amazing restaurant. I would suggest everyone to try it.

Korean Food in Taiwan 台灣韓國菜
Here is some Korean food I had in Taiwan. I had some chicken soup. The bottom picture is Bibimbap. All of it was very delicious. The total cost was NT $300 (around US$9).

Department Store Food Court 百貨公司的食堂
One of the best reasons for coming to Taiwan is food.
You can get delicious food everywhere; it is also very cheap.
This is a diner I had with my family in a department store.
The first picture is of a Japanese noodle soup combo. It comes with 4 fried dumplings, a large bowl of pork miso noodle soup and a glass of black tea. The total cost was NT$142, which is around US$4.
This is my mushroom sauce steak and hot pot. Can you imagine having steak, hot pot, and salad for a mere NT$148 (around US$4.5)?

這是我在百貨公司吃的一個晚餐. 台灣什麼方便. 吃飯最方便又便宜.
上面是我妹的日式拉麵套餐. 下面是我的牛排火鍋套餐. 共NT$290. 超多東西的.
只是我的火鍋沒什麼料而已. 多數是蔬菜. 不過湯頭還不錯.
Fire-Fly’s BBQ restaurant 飛火烤肉餐廳
Although, Kansas City is more famous for BBQ, this East Coast BBQ can easily beat Arthur Bryant’s. Link
The price was quite reasonable and the food is definitely worth the money.
I strongly recommend their Ribs. They are tender, juicy and succulent.
They have a wide variety of BBQ sauces to choose from.
I tried their award wining, Dixie kiss and Beelzeber sauces.
Both of them are extremely absolutely scrumptious and unique.

1st Anniversary 結婚一週年紀念日
This weekend was my first anniversary with my husband. It happened to be the same day with my parents in-law. They took us to the TOP OF THE RIVERFRONT in St.Louis for dinner. It is a rotating restaurant. It took about an hour and a half for it to go all the way around. Quite fun.
這個週末是我結婚一週年紀念日. 剛好也是我公婆的35週年 . 他們請我們去聖路伊斯的”河前旋轉餐廳”吃晚餐 .花大約一個半小時轉一圈.滿好玩的.
The menu is full of variety. Above is the tuna steak with wasabe cole slaw and rice.
餐廳菜單花樣滿多. 照片又邊是鮪魚排. 只煎表面. 整塊就像一塊大塊的生魚片 .旁邊還加哇沙米生菜.及米飯.還加上miso 醬.

In my hometown, Kaohsiung City, there is a restaurant with toilets as chairs and dishes. I will have to try it next time I am home.
Their food is pretty good from what I hear and they make sure everything is served in a toilet shaped container.
