Steak

  • 1-2 slice of fine New York Strip Steaks
  • some salt and pepper
  • some oil
  1. Preheat oven for 425F.
  2. Sprinkle salt and pepper on both side of the steak.
  3. Add oil to a pan. Place steak in the pan when oil is hot.
  4. Fry steak about 30 sec. each side on high heat.
  5. Transfer steak into oven.
  6. Bake until the center of the steak is 135F for medium.
  7. When cooked, allow steak to sit for 5 minutes before cutting.

Chicken Pasta

Salsa Rice

A quick easy meal in under 10 minutes.

  • some cooked rice
  • some ground meat (chicken, pork, beef which ever you prefer)
  • some salt & pepper
  • some sliced onion, pepper and mushroom
  • store bought salsa
  • some shredded cheese
  • half avocado
  • some oil
  1. Stir-fry onion in oil until fragrant.
  2. Add meat and salt and pepper.
  3. When meat is cooked, add vegetables. Cook until the vegetables soften.
  4. Put warm rice in a bowl.
  5. Add meat, vegetable stir-fry and avocado.
  6. Sprinkle salsa and cheese on top.
  7. Eat with tortilla chips if desired.

2011 Spring BBQ

We finally bought a gas grill.
We used pizza dough to make the bread.
And put all the veggies we have around into work.
Simply brush some olive oil and salt on the veggies and grill them.

Above is my husband’s American way or eating Hamburger meat.
Below is my Asian way of eating it. ha…they are equally satisfying and delicious. ^_^

Asian Noodle Salad

Salad ingredients:

  • 1 package of thick egg noodles
  • some fresh ginger
  • some scallions
  • some cilantro
  • some soy bean sprouts or bean sprouts

Sauce ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp os sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp of rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of black vinegar
  • 1 tsp of sriracha sauce
  • olive oil
  • pepper and salt
  1. Boil noodles with some salt and olive oil.
  2. When noodles are cooked, add sprouts. Cook until the water is boiling again.
  3. Drain and rinse noodles and sprouts in cold water.
  4. Finely chop ginger, scallions, cilantro.
  5. Mix all sauce ingredients together with herbs.
  6. Mix sauce and noodles together.
  7. Add salt and pepper as needed.

Sauceless pasta

  • Pasta
  • 1/2 cup of pin nuts
  • 1 cup of sliced mushroom
  • 1 cup of broccoli
  • 1 cup of shrimp or chicken breasts
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp of bourbon
  • 2 cup of chicken stock or vegetable stock
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  1. Cook pasta with some salt and pepper.
  2. Toast pin nuts until golden brown.
  3. In a sauce pan, cook chicken breasts and/or shrimp in butter.
  4. Add stock in the sauce pan,  cook until boil.
  5. Add mushroom, broccoli and bourbon. Cook until boil again.
  6. Mix pasta with sauce.
  7. Sprinkle pin nut on top.

Baked Rice

  • 2-3 cups of cooked rice (short grain) $0.5
  • 2 links of Kielbasa or hot dog $1
  • 1 cup of broccoli $1
  • 1/2 cup of red pepper $0.5
  • 1/4 cup of red onion $0.5
  • 1/2 cup of chicken stock $0.5
  • 1/2 cup of milk $0.5
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese $1.5
  • salt and pepper $0.1

Serve 2-4 people, total price $ 6

  1. Cut red pepper, onion, Kielbasa and broccoli into bit size.
  2. Mix milk and chicken stock in a sauce pan, cook until boil. Add salt and pepper to season.
  3. In a baking dish, place rice on the bottom and pour milk mixture in.
  4. Layer kielbasa, and vegetables on top.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until cheese turns golden brown.
  7. Allow the rice to sit for 10 minutes before serving.

Chicken Salad Sandwich

  • 1 leftover rotisserie chicken
  • some boiled potatoes
  • some chopped onion and cucumber
  • black pepper, salt
  • 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • some canned corn
  • sliced bread
  1. Pull meat from the leftover rotisseries chicken
  2. Cut potato into bite sized pieces
  3. Mix chicken meat with corn, mayonnaise,  onion, cucumber, potato and add pepper, salt to season
  4. Place chicken salad in fridge for 10 minutes
  5. Serve salad in two slice of bread and enjoy

Beef Wellington

This is one of my most successful dishes.
It is not difficult, and you can use this dish to easily impress your guests.

  • 2 Filet Mignon
  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 6 slice of Prosciutto
  • 2 Portobello mushroom
  • 2-3 tps of German Mustard
  • some salt and pepper
  • olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • some plastic wrap
  1. Sprinkle salt and pepper on both side of the steaks.
  2. Pan fry steaks until brown on both side with a little bit of olive oil. Set steaks aside.
  3. Blend mushroom in a food processor with some salt and pepper.
  4. Pan fry mushroom in a pan without oil. Cook until the water is cooked out of the mushroom.
  5. Lay down a big  sheet of plastic wrap, arrange strips of Prosciutto on top.
  6. Spread cooked mushrooms on top of the Prosciutto, than add steaks in the center.
  7. Fold plastic wrap over and tightly wrap steak into a bundle.
  8. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  9. Unwrap the plastic wrap, place the bundle on top of the puff pastry.
  10. Roll the Puff pastry around the steak.
  11. Beat the egg and brush egg mixture inside and out of the puff pastry.
  12. Refrigerate for another 10 minutes.
  13. Bake the beef wellington in oven 400F until puff pastry golden brown.
  14. Allow beef wellington to rest after baking for 10 minutes before serving.

Salami Mozzarella

  • Fresh Mozzarella cheese
  • Salami
  • Sun dry tomato in olive oil or herbs
  • Cilantro or Parsley
  1. Slice Mozzarella cheese
  2. Slice Salami into slices
  3. Place sliced cheese, salami, sun dry tomato, and parsley on top of each other.
  4. Drizzle some oil from the tomato on top.
  5. Enjoy with cracker or bread.
